Sources of Indoor Air Quality problems are dirty air duct systems, fouled coils, and dirty fan housing and A/C interiors in general.
We recommend periodic sterilizing of these areas as good housekeeping. Maintenance departments should log these cleanings. Studies conducted by the Lancet, a British madical journal, shows over 50% of hotels, and a greater shere of hospitals were found to have legionella. One third of those tested had the organism present in bathroom showerheads. Theorganism is somewhat ubiquitous, and might be found in fountains, cooling towers, etc. There are several strains of legionella. Tablets making claims for killing bacteria or legionella cannot reach all parts of the drip pan.
